I am 22 hours into a 24 hour fast and boy am I “hangry”. Actually I shouldn’t say that. I wasn’t hungry, I was craving bad food. You see, I’m trying to get back into ketosis and the glucose cravings are in high gear.
Sugar fires off similar parts of the brain as cocaine does. I go on and off the glucose wagon and every time there’s a day or so where the cravings are the highest. It’s not all that bad, I just have the willpower of a 6 year old and cave far more often than I’d like to admit.
What’s working for me on my fast
Currently I’m using Matcha Green Tea when I feel these urges to eat shit food, and it seems to help. I usually drink one cup of tea a day, but now I’m up to three or four a day for a few days, then I’m back to one a day. It seems to help.
After I shot this video, I waited only one hour, and not two, for my one and only meal for the day. It was 6 hard boiled eggs and a little over a half pound of ground beef. I’m on the carnivore style of diet and that’s because I suck at cooking. It’s just super easy to make (I use an Instant Pot) and I don’t really like fruits and veggies. I’ll eat them if they are being served but I won’t buy them or prepare them. Ever.
I wake up at around 3am to drive 275 miles to northern Indiana to pick up a brand new motorhome and I’ll deliver it to Florida. I stop off at home for the night in southern Indiana and will eat my one meal then. I just have ground beef now in the fridge and I’ll try not to make eggs. I find that when I’m driving, it’s easier to not eat because I’m busy and I WILL NOT eat that crap at fuel stops.
Wish me luck that I can make it there and back without breaking…..
